Matthews and Armstrong Ask Candidates The Cancer Question
Lance Armstrong recently joined Chris Matthews on MSNBC Hardball to discuss the upcoming LIVESTRONG Presidential Cancer Forum.
Armstrong and Matthews will co-moderate the August event where commander-in-chief hopefuls will be asked how they plan to tackle the difficult issue of healthcare reform and, more specifically, cancer program funding, if elected.
The bipartisan forum is schedued to take place on August 27 & 28, 2007, at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ticket information can be found at www.livestrong.org/forum.
As Armstrong (who is a testicular cancer survivor himself) points out, cancer is the number one killer of people under age 85 in the United States, claiming about 600,000 lives a year. He also noted that approximately one-third of those deaths could be prevented with better screening programs so voters need to know how candidates answer “the cancer question” before they cast their vote.
