Quest Diagnostics & Digene Corp Extend HPV Testing Contract
Digene Corporation (NASDAQ: DIGE) and Quest Diagnostics, Incorporated (NYSE: DGX) have entered into a four-year extension on their existing contract to provide diagnostic screening for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is the primary cause of cervical cancer, one of the most common malignancies affecting women around the world.
Digene currently markets the only FDA-approved test for detecting 13 high-risk types of HPV in women age 30 and older. Their product portfolio also includes the Rapid Capture System(R) which is used to perform HPV assays. Quest Diagnostics operates a network of labs in the U.S. with instrumentation and reagents for HPV testing.
