FDA Offers Free Newsletter
Getting current information about the medicines you’re taking–or administering–just got a little easier.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has started publishing a new quarterly newsletter full of important information pertaining to drug safety. The Drug Safety Newsletter contains reviews of pharmaceutical products, data on adverse effects reported, updates on recently approved new molecular entities and a list of Public Health Advisories posted during the previous quarter.
The free publication is primarily targeted at healthcare professionals, but the FDA is also making it available to the public on their web site. REMINDER: Patients who have concerns about the products they are taking should consult their doctor or pharmacist before making any changes to their treatment regimen.
The developers hope this new communication tool will complement their other notification systems and increase public awareness of potential dangers.
If you’re interested, you can also subscribe to the Drug Safety Newsletter. Subscribers will receive an e-mail every time a new issue is available.
