PerkinElmer Opens Product Research Center in Singapore
PerkinElmer, Inc (NYSE: PKI) is celebrating the opening of a new research and development facility in Singapore.
The company, which develops a wide range of products for the scientific community and the industrial sector, established the facility to expand its health and environmental infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Opening ceremonies for the PerkinElmer Inc Center of Excellence were held March 26, 2008. The new center is designed to manufacture and test instruments for atomic absorption spectroscopy and UV/visable spectroscopy, in addition to other technologies utilized in the health sciences. As one company official said,
“The products that will be researched and developed here in Singapore will impact many aspects of our lives, from systems to test the safety of the water we drink and the quality of the air we breathe, to technology that may identify a new medication to cure a disease.”
